About Us

We are a family of 5, living in Bellingen on the mid-north coast of NSW. I am a medical doctor with an interest in child and maternal health. In 2013, my third child, Olive, was diagnosed with PKU when she was 9 days old. She is now 7 years old and thriving and loves all her special foods (so do her brothers!). I developed these baking mixes through research and experimentation and wanted to share my knowledge. 

Platypus Foods was created to improve the lives of people and families with metabolic disorders like PKU through better, cheaper food options and to encourage further research and development into PKU foods.
